Many members participate in various social advocacy programs, and walk-a-thons such as AIDS, LSS, Childhood Tumor Foundation and the Revlon walks.

In 1968 the church purchased the Midoriland Retreat Center on Big Bear Lake. Midoriland remains an important part of Emmanuel's ministry to this day. The lodge is licensed for up to 32 overnight guests and is under contract with an agency in Big Bear that rents out the facilities to other churches and groups in the community.
